A dizzying array of bright colors and bold prints, this season Marimekko’s collection of fabrics are definitely worthy of spring. From the weaving floral design of Katsuji Wakisaka’s Green Green motif to the geometric style of Maija Louekari’s Potpuri print, Marimekko starts spring off with a bang. As I mentioned last week, this year marks Marimekko’s 60th anniversary and in celebration of this momentous occasion they have designed a new fabric called Yhdessä. A modern rendition of a patchwork quilt, Yhdessä features squares of Marimekko’s most famous prints arranged to create a one cohesive fabric pattern. Adorned with Kaivo, Kivet and Tuuli (just to name a few); this fabric is a wonderful reminder of Marimekko’s impressive contribution to the history of textile design.
