Just a couple of days ago, Fast Company published an interesting article about Marimekko’s efforts to break back into the fashion world. The Finnish design powerhouse is not a household name in the U.S., but it does have a cult following. Among some of the most recent efforts Marimekko has made to amplify its presence in the fashion scene was its collaboration with Banana Republic, as blogged about here. The collection sold out within a week, proving there is mainstream interest in the company’s bold patterns. Marimekko also recently hired fashion guru Anna Teurnell as its creative director. Formerly with & Other Stories, H&M’s high-end counterpart, Teurnell just began her tenure with Marimekko this month. It will be exciting to see where Teurnell takes Marimekko’s standing in the world of fashion. Read the Fast Company article in its entirety here. What are your thoughts about Marimekko fashion?
