Freshen Up Your Home with Marimekko Fabric and Throw Pillows

If you have a case of the winter blues, join the club. I’m yearning for warmer weather and for nature to come alive again. But reality tells me that this daydream of mine will not be happening for a few months. So instead of pouting, I searched for ways to bring my living space back to life. I stumbled upon The Freelancer’s FashionBlog and was immediately refreshed.

And then my wheels started turning. Megan did a post just last week on new Marimekko throw pillows and how it can instantly revitalize your space. I decided to round up my personal favorite fabric and throw pillow combos to help inspire you. The key is to pull a color or two from the pillow or fabric and to scale the patterns. You don’t want to pair two large-scale patterns.

The black and white in the Onnea Etsimässä throw pillow pairs well with the Siirtolapuutarha fabric. As you can see, the scale of the throw pillow’s pattern is smaller than the fabric’s.

The simple, colorful pattern in the Kippo fabric goes well with the busy Ollivi pattern on the throw pillow.

One of my favorite patterns is Marimekko’s Vattenblänk. I pulled the blue and black from the fabric and matched it up with the Cocktail pillow.

Do you have any ideas on how to freshen up your home? Feel free to share them, we’d love to see them!
