Modern Design Spotted on Spotify

blog-feature

Untitled-2I had to take not one, but two double takes on album covers that popped up on my Spotify playlist this past week. The first was Late Night Tales, a mix album compiled by British musician Bonobo. It features tracks from artists such as Nina Simone, Bill Evans, and Dorothy Ashby; but it also features the Tom Dixon Etch Pendant Light on the cover! The glow of the brass and geometric shapes make for the perfect abstract album art. The second was Scott Hamilton’s Swedish Ballads… & More. Scandinavia is known for having a vibrant jazz scene, and Hamilton’s Nordic quartet does the genre justice with smooth saxophone ballads. Thus, it’s only fitting that he would sit on the Fritz Hansen Egg Lounge Chair for the album’s cover art. You may have also noticed that the silhouette of the Arne Jacobsen’s iconic chair is the icon for the “Chill” genre and mood playlists. Indeed, it is a very comfortable chair to “chill” in while enjoying your favorite tunes.
