Just about a month ago, the Chicago Athenaeum honored Magisso’s Naturally Cooling Ceramics Collection with the world’s most prestigious design award: the GOOD DESIGN™ Award.
Designer Simon Stevens combined the ancient technique of using ceramics for cooling with contemporary design to create the collection. What you get is the perfect marriage of aesthetics and function, typical of Magisso products. By running the sleek black ceramic pieces of the collection under cold water for a minute or so, it ignites a cooling effect. This helps keep food and beverages cool and fresh. Additionally, the exterior of the ceramics in the collection can be personalized with chalk.
Currently in its 65th year, GOOD DESIGN is the oldest and most prestigious design award in the world founded by MoMA curator Edgar Kaufmann, Jr. and modern design pioneers Charles and Ray Eames, Russel Wright, George Nelson and Eero Saarinen. The award program honors the most innovative and cutting-edge industrial, graphic and product designs from around the world.
This isn’t the only award this cool and clever collection received. Earlier in 2014, Magisso’s Naturally Cooling Barware Collection was honored with the GIA Award (Global Innovation Award) and the Fennia Prize 2014 Award. Kudos Magisso!
