Bringing Bold Design to Everyday Technology
Earlier this year, Marimekko teased an upcoming collaboration with the global technology company Samsung, and we have been waiting in anticipation to see what the collection all entails. The partnership began starting February 2024 with numerous Marimekko print designs added to Samsung’s Art Store, allowing consumers to decorate their Samsung Frame television and mobile phones with over 30 different exclusive wallpapers. The wallpapers included works from renowned Marimekko designers such as Maija Isola, Fujiwo Ishimoto, Maija Louekari, and more.
Later in the year, the launch also welcomes in a catalog of limited-edition lifestyle accessories to Samsung Galaxy products decorated with the print icon Unikko. Marimekko’s famous Unikko pattern, designed by Maija Isola in 1964, celebrates 60 years in 2024, making this collaboration the perfect way to celebrate the print’s milestone.
Marimekko, the Finnish design house known for its bold prints and colors, has collaborated with various brands in the past, including Uniqlo, West Elm, Converse, Ikea, Adidas and more. This new partnership opens up a new pathway for the company, merging their iconic prints with Samsung’s renowned and innovative technology. Appealing to fashion-conscious consumers, this collaboration allows individuals to stand out visually and make a statement with everyday tech products.
This new partnership brings a plethora of limited-edition Unikko-ifed Samsung accessories. The Unikko print is presented in numerous different colorways, such as light pink, green, light yellow, and black. This includes fashionable phone covers for the Galaxy S24 Series, cases for the Galaxy Buds wireless earphones and wristbands for the Galaxy smartwatch. The Marimekko x Samsung phone accessories are available starting April 2024 at Samsung retailers in select Nordic markets.
