Pentik Manor, nestled within the stunning landscapes of Posio, Finland, is an iconic symbol of Pentik and its design history. Pentik Manor is a historic estate that dates back to the 18th century, evolving from a modest homestead to a charming manor. The landmark is a 150-year-old reindeer farm that was renovated by Pentik founders Anu and Topi Pentikäinen into a home for art between the years 2013-2015. A must-have experience for art and culture lovers, the farm now acts as an artist residency, guest atelier and venue for events and exhibitions. According to Anu Pentik, “we did not want to build a museum, but an art center, where history meets the present.”
The Gallery
Attractions at Pentik Manor include the Gallery. Here, interchanging exhibitions and pieces of art are on display, such as Anu Pentik’s Summer 2022 Koirakuoro (Dog Choir) exhibition. In the same building, there is a small shop where visitors can find special batches of ceramics, art pieces, herbs directly from Pentik Manor’s gardens, and more. Additionally, the manor offers 30-45 minute guided tours around the estate. On this tour, guests can expect to see gallery exhibitions and several works of art all while hearing about the rich history of the reindeer farm-turned-manor. Find more information here.
The Pentik Manor Gallery also includes the café, which is open daily during the summer months from 11 – 5 p.m. In between gallery and exhibition viewings, visitors can enjoy delicious snacks, waffles, fresh coffee, and the novelty nettle pie made of hand-picked nettles growing from the Timisjärvi meadow. There is a small gift shop located in the café where guests can buy mugs, postcards, recipes and more. The café is surrounded with works of art that visitors can enjoy alongside their café delicacies. For more cafe information here.
